To begin, let's consider what can be accomplished with a very basic restoration and fix. Note the nice horns growing out of the groom's head. Kind of detracts from the overall effect, eh? That was the original assignment, get rid of the horns. But we looked at the image and realized there was more to do.

First off, the color was really flat. So we fixed the color balance to make the grass look fresher and warm up the skin tones. As we did that, we brightened the white in her dress, bringing out the details in the fabric.

Finally we decided to eliminate the background distractions - the people walking on the path and the park bench. Then we cropped the image to focus in on the happy couple.

Here is an example of “historic” transformation. This is the only known photo of Colonel George A. Armes of the Kansas Militia. The original – from around 1870 – is hand retouched on a silk-like fabric nailed to rough cut wooden stretcher bars. It is ripped, stained and very fragile. The photo of the original needed to be color balanced in addition to fixing the many defects. The result is a beautiful, faithful reproduction of an historic image.
We do a lot of work on pet images. Vickie just loved what we did with hers. It was a nice shot to start with, but Vickie wanted us to get rid of the leash. When we did that, we had to adjust the coller (we couldn't leave it sticking out). Then those toes on the right side had to go. And that grass could be greener. Finally we eliminated the distractions in the background. Presto: dog protrait!
